This poem was inspired by last year’s experience at the “Out of The Darkness Community Walk”, which benefits The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, (see my blog: http://wp.me/p2ckKM-gC). You’re hurt and bruised, feeling empty and used
You think you’re lost and you know you’re confused
Your problems are different from mine
But if you need it, I’ll give you my time.
*
You’ve found your voice, but you don’t know the words
You’re screaming for help, but you still feel unheard
You just want your pain to end
Come take my hand, my friend.
*
And Out of The Darkness together we’ll walk
I’ll be the listener who hears when you talk
We’ll reach out for comfort and learn how to cope
We’ll walk Out of The Darkness . . . and into the hope.

Because everyone matters.
Julia, this is a beautiful poem. It’s exactly what everyone needs to hear.
Thank you, Naomi. You have a kind and sensitive heart. And I appreciate your words. xoJulia
Love this, Julia. This somehow reminds me of Obama saying 4 years ago that we would offer the world our hand, if they would unclench their fist. I thought that was such a lovely image. Guess I can’t help but think election today. Sorry, my friend.
Hugs,
Kathy
Thank you, Kathryn, so much. I love when Obama said those words too. The visual is touching indeed. I understand about your political thoughts today…..Take care and love to you and your sweetie-pie! xoxoJulia
Thank you. Just reread this one–I think there is so much reach in that last line–if that makes any sense. It moves all of us forward—into the light.
Hugs,
Kathy
Thank you, Kathryn. I love hearing from you. Be well. xoJulia
smiles…we all need each other you know….and even though we are diffrent we can walk the path together to the benefit of each other…..we were never meant to walk alone…
You know, Brian, I think that maybe we’re not all as different as our egos would like us to believe. I think that maybe we are all more alike when it comes to the really relevant stuff…..family, kids, love, friends, security, health, acceptance…..And you are SO right, we weren’t meant to walk alone. Alone, the miles are endless and quiet. With a friend or even a stranger at your side….the miles become something else. Something better. A shared journey that can sometimes be more fun that the actual destination! That completes my preaching for today! LOL! Thanks for reading and leaving a note. That was very very kind of you! And blessings to you and those you love! xoJulia
